On offer is a very attractive Wisden 1900 rebind.

This book was originally in a sorry state, and has been newly rebound in high-quality brown buckram.  I've made a stylish dustwrapper to go around the book, this is in exact facsimile to the original paperback covers and is a unique creation of mine.  There are no gilt titles on the book spine underneath, mainly due to the difficulty and expense of doing it, but a bookbinder can easily add these at a later date for you, if you wish.

There are no covers or adverts.  Three internal pages are in facsimile, these have been carefully made on colourmatched paper and blend in well.  The pages are LV/LVI (deaths), CXI/CXII (calendar page), and 65/66 (Yorkshire).

The photoplate is in very good condition as can be seen, although it does have a slight crease running down the middle.  The tissue is present and has some foxing, but nothing too drastic.

The pages internally are in places quite grubby and there are pencil markings on many pages.  This could be easily erased but as an original 1900 feature has been left in - the book was obviously a workhorse!  In the fixtures some underlining and writing is in ink.  Nothing at all that detracts from the basic readability of the book.

Overall, a good reading copy for a rare year, and at under £60 priced very favourably indeed
in the hope of a quick sale.  Ideal for a new collector or someone interested in older Wisdens but not keen on high prices!

Content-wise, 1900 is one of everyone's favourite editions of the last century. 1900 is much sought-after for several reasons:

1) 1899 was a home Ashes series (although we didn't call it that then), the Test debut in England of a certain Victor Trumper, who dazzled us with his brilliance, including 300* at Brighton.  Daydreams of the golden age are practically guaranteed from this section.

2) The world-record batting score is detailed within, a record which still stands today.  AEJ Collins scored 628no in a school match in 1899.  Lara who?!

3) Lord Harris and AG Steel suggest some cricketing reforms, in the face of the Boer War then underway.  Some of the problems are still debated today...

4) A fascinating article studies EM Grace in the cricket field and lists his career totals.

5) AJ Gaston includes a full "Biography of Cricket" listing the majority of late-Victorian publications.

6) The stunning season of batting of Major RM Poore, thrashing it about for Hampshire!

So, a book you'll thoroughly enjoy!  Any other questions, please do ask.

Postage is Second Class Recorded mail to keep the cost down.  Basic rate is £3.99, around cost price.  Other postage options are available too, just ask after purchase.  Overseas shipping will be more expensive, ask first (airmail to USA for books is ridiculously expensive, about £8-10)
