Wisden Cricketers' Almanack 1899 Wisden Publisher rebind

This is one of 12 pre WW1 Wisdens I am selling which were rebound by Wisden in the style of an original hardback. There is no reserve.

In one of the photographs I have placed this Wisden against an orginal 1937 Hardback so the similarities can be seen to the front covers, the gilts on the spines are in exactly the same format.

( the 1937 Hardback is also for sale please see separate listing)

The book will be posted to the UK by first class recorded delivery or at cost overseas by a method by which the seller signs on delivery. The book will be insured in transit under our private library insurance.

Q: Hello Keith 1896, 1899, 1907 and 1910 arrived this morning. Packaging was fine and books were intact. These are the first ones I have received since joining the auction facility and it was a point of interest to see what an "8" rating would be. For me the satisfying aspect is that the books "looked like genuine Wisdens". To explain, and to reassure you that I am not meaning to offend or insult, I have never handled or seen books of the vintage you sent to me (I have the facsimile set of 1864-1878 but these are modern-day prints). Accordingly, I had no idea what to expect in terms of quality and presentation. I was impressed with the books - and it does pay to temper one's expectations with a reminder that the items are older than all but a very few people on earth! Overall, I am extremely happy with the purchases. Yes, absolutely pristine copies would be nice - but that is a dream these days. I look forward to more purchases and to learning about the options for filling in the gaps re the rarer (i.e., more expensive) years. Thank you for the transaction, and for the professional manner in which you dealt with the business. Best regards. Mark  posted by: Mark Lawley  03/01/2012 20:18:21
A: Hello Mark, I am glad you are pleased, and thank you for bidding on some further publisher rebinds. I have more like this to list on the site and shall do as soon as possible. Great to do business with you. Best wishes Keith
