DESCRIPTION

Presenting Indian Cricket By Berry Sarbadhikary, 1946 HB, Signed by Pataudi etc.

Sporting Publications India, 1946, 1st Edition hardback with jacket in protective sleeve.

The note from the Editors states: "In Presenting Indian Cricket, an effort has been made to give the outline of a history of the origin and growth of the game in India with special reference to the Indian tour of England in Summer of 1946." It includes a one-page facsimile letter from Indian captain 'Pat' Nawab of Pataudi, who captained the Indian touring team.

The book included autograph pages and these have all been signed by the Nawab of Pataudi, Merchant, Amarnath, Hazare, and others as shown.

Authenticity.......

One problem with autographs is proving that they are genuine. I have checked most of those shown here against items on the Internet, in particular a postcard signed by the Indian team in 1946. All appear to match up but, if in doubt, please check or contact me for source information.

The signatures also appear to be original and not pre-printed, because:

1. The book has a faint stamped addition to the front cover stating "Complete With Autographs".

2. The signatures are in varying shades of purple ink.

3. The signature of Sarwate crosses two pages. As can be seen in the last two images, the dash from the 't' has completed two pages hence.

Condition.....

Bound in quarter-cloth and parchment, the covers have been stained to front and rear which has slightly crept onto the inside of the covers, and a very small amount to the front end-papers. There is a small spot of fading to the cloth at the top of the spine and some foxing to the covers. Internally there is a name inside the front cover and, other than the small stains to the bottom of the first three pages the contents are clean and good.

The jacket has also been affected by the staining, and has edge-wear along the top-edge with small loss to the top of the spine. Otherwise complete and now protected by a removable plastic sleeve. The images complete the story.

Shipping: The book will be shipped fully insured within the UK via Next Day Special Delivery. It can also be sent overseas fully insured wherever Royal Mail's International signed-for service is effective. Overseas buyers need to add £11.50 (to Europe) or £14.00 (rest of the world).
